Phnom Penh, Cambodia, November 26, 2020: Today AIA Cambodia Life Insurance (“AIA Cambodia”) and Grab (Cambodia) Co Ltd, the popular ride-hailing app, have signed a special deal during a ceremony held at AIA Cambodia Head Office located in Exchange Square, Phnom Penh.

The deal will see AIA offering a tailor-made Personal Accident Plan solution to all Grab drivers. The new plan offers an affordable premium and will give drivers peace of mind. It also supports the insurance company’s mission to help all Cambodians live longer, healthier and better lives.

CEO of AIA Cambodia Pauline Teoh was joined by key management of AIA Cambodia and Grab, plus 20 Grab drivers, at the signing. Explaining the reason for the partnership, Mrs.Teoh commented: “The majority of Grab drivers are the breadwinner for their family and an unforeseen event may occur when it comes to performing their daily job. So, it’s vital that Grab drivers and their families are financially protected should they need it. We have designed a low-cost and affordable coverage option to ensure the financial safety for Grab drivers and their families”

Grab is Southeast Asia’s #1 ride-hailing app and was launched in Phnom Penh in 2017. There are currently more than 10,000 Grab drivers in Cambodia’s capital and other provinces.

Grab’s Cambodia Country Head, Mr. Hashim Alkaff, co-signed the agreement in the Special Deal Signing Ceremony, which took place at 4pm.

In a speech made during the signing, Mr. Sothy Puy of Grab, said: ‘‘Grab already offers an individual insurance package to all of our drivers, but we want to make sure that our drivers are further protected and that’s how today’s event has come to happen. When it comes to the partnership with AIA, we did not hesitate and are honoured that AIA, which has been in operation for over 100 years, has designed an unlimited package just for Grab.”
