Angkor Enterprise, the state-owned institution in charge of Angkor income management, has extended the deadline of policy to encourage sales of Angkor Archeological Site’s entrance ticket for one more year until December 31, 2022.

Under the policy, which has come into effect since March 11, 2021, foreign tourists buying a one-day entrance ticket can visit the Angkor Archeological Park for two days, while the three-day pass will be increased to five days of visit and the seven-day pass to ten days of visit.

Moreover, the one-month entrance ticket will be valid for two months; three-month pass, valid for six months; and six-month entrance ticket, valid for twelve months.

“This is aimed to facilitate and promote tourism services and to ensure the attractiveness of tourists to Angkor Archeological Site as well as to the Kingdom of Cambodia during the COVID-19 pandemic,” read the statement of the Angkor Enterprise dated December 27.

A single-day entrance pass costs $37, a three-day pass $62, and a seven-day pass $72.

The one-month period ticket of Angkor Archeological Sites costs $100, while three-month period ticket and six-month period ticket at $150 and $200 respectively.

Chhay Sivlin, president of the Cambodia Tourism Association, applauded the move.

“It is a good move to further encourage foreign tourists to visit Angkor temples both foreign tourists from abroad and foreigners who live in the country,” she said on Wed.

“For those who stay in the country for long days, they can visit as many times as they want under the new policy of the Angkor Archeological Site’s entrance ticket.”

The move is made as Siem Reap province will allow vaccinated foreign tourists from January next year.

The Siem Reap reopening to tourists after Phnom Penh, Preah Sihanouk and Dara Sakor resort in Koh Kong province, which were allowed foreign tourists to travel.

Tea Seiha, governor of Siem Reap province, said recently that Siem Reap is ready to welcome national and international tourists again.

In addition to the Angkor site, Siem Reap has prepared many natural, cultural, historical sites in each local community throughout the province for the return of tourists from all regions, he said.

A report of Angkor Enterprise shows that in the first 11 months of 2021, Angkor Archeological Park in Siem Reap province received 9,488 foreign tourists, earning $385,696, a year-on-year decline of 97.63 and 97.93 percent, respectively.

In November alone 2,202 international visitors were registered at Angkor Archeological Park, up over 78 percent compared to the same period in 2020, generating $85,919, up 64 percent.
