Cambodia today officially began exporting fresh mangoes to China directly after negotiating and preparing the sanitary and phytosanitary standards required by the Chinese side.

The official fresh mango export ceremony was in Samrong Teav Village, Sangkat Kraing Thnong, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, in the presence of Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

The first shipments were made by five companies, that have been officially recognised in the list of 37 mango plantations and five packaging factories registered for exporting fresh mangoes to China from the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China.

Cambodian fresh mangoes are the second fresh fruits after fresh bananas that can be exported directly to China. This is another fruitful achievement made through the good cooperation between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the People’s Republic of China.

Veng Sakhon said that on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Cambodia, he would like to express thanks to the government of the People’s Republic of China, especially the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China for its official permission to bring fresh mangoes from Cambodia.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries started negotiations with the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China from 2018 until June 2020, which the Protocol on Hygienic Requirements for the Export of Fresh Mangoes from Cambodia to China signed.

In the first four months of this year, Cambodia shipped 140,000 tons of fresh mangoes to foreign markets.
