China Daily – Motorola unveiled the Moto Edge X30, its latest 5G flagship mobile phone, in China on Thursday night.
The launch marks Motorola’s bid for a bigger share of the world’s largest smartphone market, industry analysts said.
The Moto Edge X30 is powered by Qualcomm’s new flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, and features a 6.7-inch flexible OLED – organic light-emitting diode – display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, bringing a smoother and faster experience for gamers and video viewers.
Priced from 2,999 yuan ($471), the Edge X30 comes with a triple camera setup, including a 50-megapixel primary rear camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera as well as a punch-hole cutout that packs a 60-megapixel selfie camera on the front. It also has a built-in 5,000 mAh battery that supports 68W fast charging.
According to market consultancy IDC, 80.8 million smartphones were shipped in China in the third quarter of this year, down 4.7 percent year-on-year. The decline was the result of higher average selling prices and a continued lack of products that can dramatically stimulate demand.
IDC estimated shipments of smartphones worldwide will reach 1.38 billion units by this year-end, up 7.7 percent over the 2020 level. This trend is expected to continue into 2022, when year-on-year growth expected at 3.8 percent and shipments seen reaching 1.43 billion units.
