The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has approved  the construction of a mango processing factory in Kampong Speu province and a 275-room four-star hotel to be built in the capital.

Cambodian Gome Farm Food Co Ltd will inject $6.5 million into the mango factory and Continent Crown Investment Management Co Ltd will invest $79 million in the hotel.

The factory will be located in Kampong Speu’s Samrong Tong district and the hotel will be located in Phnom Penh’s Por Sen Chey district.

According to the CDC, together the two projects will create 1,178 jobs.

On May 29, the CDC approved the construction of two travel goods factories, one in Samrong Tong and one in Kandal province’s Angk Snuol district.

The two projects, worth a combined $5.1 million, are being invested in by Fu Bi Xing (Cambodia) Packaging Co Ltd and Sheng He Leisure Bag (Cambodia) Co Ltd and they are expected to create 614 jobs.

Investments are trending up in 2021. Over the first quarter of the year, the CDC awarded licences to 94 new investment projects valued at $2.2 billion, a 114 percent increase compared with the same period in 2021.
