The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has pledged to continue its traditional cooperation with Cambodia under a special framework including the rapid financing facility.

The commitment was made by Mr. Yasuhisa Ojima, IMF Resident Representative for Cambodia in a meeting with Academician Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance here in Phnom Penh recently.

Mr. Yasuhisa Ojima continued that the IMF’s rapid financing facility will be another choice to contribute to Cambodia’s national economic restoration when Covid-19 is easing.

The IMF resident representative spoke highly of Cambodia’s successes in containing and preventing the pandemic of Covid-19 under the strategic framework of economic restoration after and social protection programme.

Mr Pornmoniroth welcomed and supported the IMF’s rapid financing facility project, which will significantly contribute to rehabilitating the country’s economy after Covid-19 crisis.

The deputy prime minister underlined the Royal Government of Cambodia’s efforts in monitoring and protecting the progress of Covid-19, and in putting key measures to stabilise the economy and people’s living conditions during the crisis.

Cambodia is also preparing a post Covid-19 recovery plan that will help boost Cambodia’s economic growth rapidly, he pointed out.

He also thanked the IMF for its contribution, especially for collaboration with development partners in assisting Cambodia during the crisis. Lim Nary – AKP
