Prime Minister Hun Sen called economic unit owners to participate in the 2022 economic census by providing relevant information accurately and punctually.

In a message issued on February 23, Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that the economic census will start on March 1 and will be in progress until March 31. This is the second census to happen and the Prime Minister said that this will take place while the country is preparing to move the into a low middle income country.

Prime Minister Hun Sen emphasized that the economic census is a big and very important work for the nation. The Premier said that it is a statical work that must be done thoroughly to meet the growing demand for data by the government and partners.

The fourth phase of the Rectangular Strategy and the development of other policies, in particular to reflect the impact of the pandemic on the economy is a catalyst for Cambodia’s economic growth.

The Prime Minister further stressed that the economic census in the Kingdom of Cambodia is based on the statistical law, which stipulates that the “economic census” should be conducted every 10 years, with a survey conducted between the gap and defined the obligations of the owners of economic units, enterprises, handicrafts, wholesale, retail and other services to participate in the economic census.

Mr Hun Sen stressed that the data gathered from the census will be widely used in the public and private sector.
