Nine Cambodian companies in the Car, Hotels & Resorts, and Travel Agencies & Tour Operator categories were winners at the 2020 World Travel Awards (WTA2020).

This year marked the 27th annual presentation of the prestigious global travel and tourism industry awards.

There are three main categories with sub-categories awarded specifically for Cambodia.

There were 48 nominees up for awards in the Cambodian sub categories, with nine domestic firms taking home top honours.

Avis Cambodia was recognised as “Cambodia’s Leading Car Rental Company”, the Park Hyatt Siem Reap awarded as Cambodia’s Leading Hotel and the Presidential Suite at Park Hyatt Siem Reap was recognised for having the Kingdom’s Leading Hotel Suite.

The Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf and Spa Resort was the choice as Cambodia’s Leading Resort 2020, Song Saa Private Island was awarded as Cambodia’s Leading Villa Resort, Diethelm Travel Cambodia was awarded as Cambodia’s leading destination management company and RTR Tour were awarded as Cambodia’s Leading Online Travel Agency.

AVIS Cambodia begun in 2014 by Asia Vehicle Rental Co Ltd (AVR Cambodia), a member of the RMA (Cambodia) Group, is considered the first international car rental brand to operate in the country, said RMA (Cambodia) and AVIS Cambodia CEO Ngorn Saing.

“The Cambodian categories in the awards (added in 2019) have seen Avis honoured twice and we have received the top car rental award two years in a row now,” he added. Saing said that because the awards are voted on by travel and tourism professionals and consumers worldwide, that this honour of the brand’s commitment to excellence is the ultimate industry accolade.
