Cambodia’s Australian lobster farming is on track to supply one tonne of the lucrative food product a day and plans are afoot for expansion
The idea was floated by a delegation led by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon and Oddar Meanchey Provincial Governor H.E. Pen Kosal when visiting the lobster farm recently.
Located in Trapaing Prasat district of Oddar Meanchey, the farm run by Cambodia Amazing Aquaculture Technological Co., Ltd. has about 600,000 lobsters and produces 50 tonnes of lobsters every six months.
The firm will expand the coverage to from 25 to 100 hectares in the near future with an plan of producing one tonne of lobsters daily.
According to the firm, the price it sets for one kilogram of lobsters is US$25, and it can be sold by retailers at the market for US$30 a kilogram.
The delegation of H.E. Veng Sakhon and H.E. Pen Kosal expressed their high appreciation of the progress of the farm and urged the firm to expand its networks and investments as soon as they can.
The investment is not only promoting local economy and food chain, but can also serve as a practical technical laboratory for others interested to follow the path.
