Cambodia has exported 179,621 tonnes of dry rubber in the first nine months of 2020, down 3 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).

A tonne of dry rubber averagely cost $1,288 duing this period, about $51 lower than that of the first semester of 2019, it said.

The Kingdom has made a gross revenue of $231 million from the export of the commodity during the January-September period this year, MAFF added, stressing that the major markets for Cambodian rubber are Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China.

Cambodia has so far planted rubber trees on a total land area of 403,195 hectares, of which 62 percent are mature and ready for rubber tapping.

Some 282,071 tonnes of rubber worth $377 million were exported in 2019, up 30 percent from 2018, pointed out MAFF. Chea Vannak – AKP
