PTT (Cambodia) Limited launched its first three EV charging stations at PTT stations in Cambodia under the newly-introduced brand of EV Station Pluz on Wednesday, a release said.

The inauguration ceremony of the first EV station PluZ at PTT Station Prek Pnov, located on National Road No 5, was officiated by Minister of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) Sun Chanthol, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia Cherdkiat Atthakor, Managing Director of PTT (Cambodia) Ltd Nuttapong Kaewtrakulpong and other guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Kaewtrakulpong said, “Our vision is the betterment of the Cambodian community and lifestyle, and by following the government’s direction to promote EVs to reduce carbon emission, PTT aims to drive the community for a better livelihood and to step forward into green energy roadmap.  Therefore, PTT visions to be one of the leading EV charger stations in Cambodia.”

Kaewtrakulpong further said, “We have installed the first 3 DC chargers at EV Station PluZ in three locations in Phnom Penh, namely EV Station Pluz Chbar Ampov, EV Station PluZ Prek Pnov, and EV Station PluZ Prey Key.  The charging service at EV Station PluZs is free for the time being.”

The Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia hailed PTT for this important milestone. “As one of many choices of fuel service station in Cambodia, PTT has grown significantly with its standard. PTT has become more than just a gas station, a place where customers spend quality time with families and friends after a long-distance drive, with lifestyle services like food and beverage establishments. With proven growth and success, I am certain PTT will continue to carry out its businesses with quality standards.

“Today’s inauguration ceremony of the first EV station is not only an important milestone for PTT’s business in Cambodia but also another significant step for the Government of Cambodia in reducing carbon emissions and finding sustainable energy solutions, as we all work together towards sustainable development goals.” the ambassador said.

The MPWT minister Chanthol thanked PTT (Cambodia) Ltd for supporting EV charging infrastructure in Cambodia as promised. “Today, we are inaugurating three new charging stations owned by PTT (Cambodia) Ltd.  At present, we have 10 public EV charging stations. The MPWT has incorporated development partners to install seven charging stations, including four in MPWT, one in Siem Reap, one in Sihanoukville, and one in Battambang province (4 units were supported by UNDP and 3 by the Chinese Chambers of Commerce) and another three units at Caltex Petrol Station Chamkar Dong, Aeon Mall II and Mondulkiri.  Now, another three high-speed charging stations of PTT (Cambodia) Ltd are being inaugurated today. In total, we have 13 public EV charging stations nationwide.”

Stating that the private sector engagement with the government is crucial for the development of Cambodia’s EV infrastructure, Chanthol said, “The use of EVs has increased significantly, and the demand for charging stations is also a necessary factor to be prepared to respond to the increase of EVs,” he said.
