CP Cambodia Co Ltd yesterday inaugurated a food factory in Kampot province, focusing on high standards of hygiene, quality and safety.

Wittaya Kreangkriwit, Senior Vice President, CP Cambodia, said, “CP Cambodia has been operating in Cambodia’s agro-industry and food business for more than 26 years. With the vision of ‘World Kitchen’, we are committed to providing high quality, hygienic and nutritional products with social responsibility and sustainable development. The establishment of this food factory aims to raise the quality standard of food production in Cambodia to international standards.”

While elaborating on the steps taken by the company to ensure quality, Kreangkriwit said, “There are five principles to get fresh meat. The animal must be healthy and transported from a standard farm. The preparation of the animals before entering the slaughterhouse is that the animals do not suffer from emotional pressure because when the animals are under pressure, the quality of the meat will decrease.

Third, the place and equipment must be clean by choosing the right, modern and well-maintained equipment. Fourth, the production process must be standardised per the principles and hygiene, there should be a clear division between clean and dry parts, and disinfectants must be inspected at all stages of production.”

“Finally, the care of meat after processing. The meat must be stored at the right temperature to prevent the growth of bacteria that cause damage. If we implement all five of these points, we get good quality, fresh, clean and safe meat for consumers.”

Panyarak Poolthup, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, said, “CP Cambodia is one of the leading agro-industrial and food companies in Thailand that has always cooperated with the Thai government. CP has focused on developing Thai food products that are well-recognised by customers and people worldwide.

“Today is a great opportunity for CP as part of its support to Cambodia in raising food industry standards and developing Cambodia’s food products to international recognition. Therefore, the Thai government is willing to support, various cooperation that has helped strengthen the long-term relationship between Thailand and Cambodia.”

Kampot provincial governor Mao Thunin said that the provincial administration cooperated with CP to organise the factory’s inauguration and the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between Chea Sim University of Kamchaymear and CP Company.

“We welcome this important event. Kampot province is a rising star in the south, where the local community maintains security and peace, builds trust from the people, which lead to a significant increase in economic development,” he pointed out.

Minister of Interior Sar Kheng, Acting Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, said, “Cambodia needs to continuously improve the quality of food production to reduce imports from neighbouring countries and provide quality products to our people.”

CP Cambodia also operates several retail and food businesses such as CP Fresh Mart, CP Fresh Shop, Five Star and Star Coffee.

CPF has invested in businesses in more than 16 countries and distributes its products to more than 40 countries worldwide.
